Boys and their toys!!!

Jacob and Josh snuck in a litte time in the bobcat today! The boys sure love seeing all the different equipment out at the land!!

We have footings!

It was a busy day out at the land! Todd was up bright and early to borrow a bobcat, so that he could pack in a little more dirt where the cement truck/pourer would be pouring the footings from. We didn't want them to get stuck, or think they might get stuck, because then they might have said they weren't going to do the job!! Burnco showed up at about 11:30, and they started to dump in the concrete. They were finished by around 1:00.

They had a little extra concrete left over, which they put in the garage area. They smoothed it out so that the boys could put their handprints in it (even though it will be covered over). Jacob did good, just placing his hand down nicely, but Josh went in up to his elbows!!!

Todd, myself, and the boys then headed out to UFA to pick up some pipe for the water line (from the property line to the house, 270 ft). Todd laid that and then started to backfill that part of the trench. He should hopefully get that finished up today. The foundation crew should be out to the land in the next few days to get the cribbing up, as they are hoping to pour the foundation walls early next week (keep your fingers crossed!!!). Maybe we'll be able to start building as early as next weekend!!!

More on the footings

So, the house package is now being delivered on Monday, Nov 13th. Not a big deal really, since we don't have a basement yet. The footings should be poured either tomorrow or Thursday.

Footings Started!

Some progress has been made! The foundation crew was out yesterday and got the lumber in place to pour the footings. Not exactly sure when they will be poured, but it was certainly exciting to see something being done. The estimate for the foundation being finished is still November 22nd. Todd and I got a feel for the true size of the house, as well as the layout, based on the footing placement.

The storage container is being delivered tomorrow, so the boys and I will be heading out there. I will hopefully remember to bring the camera so that we can take some pictures. The house package is still due to arrive on Thursday.

We have an appointment with the plumbing company that we chose to go with next Tuesday. We will visit the showroom and pick out plumbing fixtures, tubs, sinks, etc. Either Todd or I will be making a trip down to the local home improvement store to start working on a layout for the kitchen. We currently have something drawn into our blueprints, but we might be changing our minds!!!! We just wanted to get a professional opinion on what might work best for us. If anyone has any input on things they really like in their kitchens, or don't like for that matter, please pass it along. We would really appreciate it.
